1,800 Feet. Volcanic Soil. Estate Grown.
On the Western Slopes of the Howell Mountain Range
Lyons Ranch is located on the western slope of the Howell Mountain Range, at an elevation of 1,800 feet—just 459 feet below the summit of Twin Sisters.
This unique location provides a growing environment marked by volcanic soil, diurnal temperature swings, cool mountain nights, and longer hang times.
Volcanic Soil. Structured Fruit.
The steep, rocky terrain forces the vines to dig deep, resulting in smaller clusters and lower yields. But what it produces is powerful: fruit with deep concentration and remarkable presence. Lyons Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is bold, structured, and shaped by the mountain itself.
More simply stated, the Lyons Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a big wine.
We check every cluster before we cut it. That’s just how it’s done.

Farming in Rhythm with the Land
The vineyard is farmed with precision and patience. Every vine is hand-tended—pruned, suckered, tucked, hedged, and harvested with intention.
Timing is dictated by observation, not automation. From pruning in late winter to harvest in early fall, every decision is made with the land in mind.
At this elevation, the growing season is slower, the work more deliberate—and the results are worth the wait!
